TAYLOR FLEMING QUARTET featuring ZULE GUERRA

Zule Guerra is a Cuban NuJazz singer and songwriter with distinctive vocal and performance qualities. Since 2012 she founded the Blues de Habana Quintet, a group with a strong presence in the jazz scene of Cuba. The music of Zule is influenced by Afro North American and Latin music, always using a fresh and authentic jazz language. In 2013, she participated in the JoJazz Festival and got a Second Prize in Interpretation, pushing forward her musical career. The first official concert of her band was held in the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana in October 2014. This concert resulted in her debut CD-DVD Blues Habana (Live), licensed to the cuban label EGREM in 2015. In 2016 it was nominated to the best jazz album and won the award for Best New Artist at Cubadisco Fair. In June 2015, she obtained the Gold Award at the Baltic Stage International Festival of Arts in Jurmula, Latvia. In 2017, Zule Guerra and her group were selected by the Berklee College of Music to be part of the workshop of musical production of the AMPM Festival. In May 2018, she was invited to participate in the Festival of Cuban Arts at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Zule was recently awarded a scholarship to study a master's degree in Contemporary Performance and Musical Production at Berklee. She has shared the stage with great exponents of the music in Cuba suchas Bobby Carcassés, Yasek Manzano, Omara Portuondo and César López. Fleming is a pianist from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, who is studying performance and contemporary writing and production at Berklee College of Music. Although primarily a jazz pianist, he studies and enjoys a wide variety of music, including classical, baroque, rock, fusion, and pop. Fleming is actively involved in teaching and giving back to the Boston, Massachusetts, community, and is a Berklee Urban Service Award nominee. When he was 16, he studied under Berklee alumnus Dave Brumbaugh at the Uptown Music Collective, a school for youth at which he was taught a contemporary approach to music.
